MEET THE EXEC TEAM

Sherry
Creative Director
Hey there! I’m Ingrid, one of the Creative Directors of OHDC for our 2020/21 season.
This is my fifth year with OHDC, my fourth year as a choreographer, and my second year on the Executive Team as CD. I previously served two years as the Social and Events Management Convenor.
I recently graduated from U of T, completing a double major in Psychology and Global Health.
I've been classically trained in ballet since I was young, and I'm mostly self-trained in contemporary. Since joining OHDC, I've been able to explore even more styles like jazz, musical theatre and heels.
I am beyond delighted to call this company my dance family, and I hope I can continue to share the core aspects of the OHDC experience that made me love being a part of this group, even in this slightly unusual season!

Erinn
Creative Director, Treasurer & Sponsorship Director
Hello, I’m Erinn! I’m Co-Creative Director, Sponsorship Director, and Treasurer for OHDC this year.
This is my 10th season with OHDC and my 9th on exec. I originally joined in my 3rd year of undergrad and have stayed on since. I graduated from UofT in 2013 in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, Anthropology, and Forest Conservation. I then completed a Master of Environmental Science at UofT in 2015.
I have no formal dance training, but have explored a lot of styles over the years - from belly dance to Highland to jazz to contemporary.
I’m excited to be back again and make it to double digits, and am looking forward to working with all members to adapt to this new virtual season and keep OHDC a positive, enriching experience!

Stella
Administrative Director & Fundraising Convenor
Hi everyone! I’m Stella and I’ll be serving as the Administrative Director and Fundraising Convenor of OHDC for the 2020/2021 year.
I am in my 3rd year at UofT in the Physiology Specialist and Immunology Minor programs. This will be my 2nd year in OHDC, and I am so excited to see how this season will turn out!
When I was younger, I used to take classes in Jazz dance, but never truly pursued it. I joined OHDC to keep myself active, learn new dance styles, and get involved in a community enriched with cultural and experiential diversity. Now, I am absolutely in love with the contemporary dance style (and continue in jazz as well) and couldn’t imagine not having joined this incredible team!
Dance is truly an opportunity to express yourself, channel your emotions through movement, and keep active amongst the highly-sedentary lifestyle of a university student. I look forward to sharing my love for this dance community with everyone involved, and ensuring we are all connected through dance during this crazy year!

Léa
Marketing Director
Hi! I’m Léa and I’ll be serving as Marketing Director this season.
I am currently in my third year at UofT doing a major in Human Biology and double minors in Immunology and Buddhism, Psychology & Mental Health.
This is also my third year with OHDC, and my first year on the Executive Team which I am super excited about.
I have completed 14 years of formal training in Ballet, Modern, Jazz and Latin American Dance and have danced in many shows through these years.
I joined OHDC in my first year at UofT as I wanted to continue dancing through my undergrad. OHDC is one of the most inclusive clubs I’ve seen on campus and I love the fact that anyone can join regardless of their level of dance or previous experience. OHDC has allowed me to discover new dance styles such as Hip hop, Contemporary and Chinese Folk Dance.
I am thrilled to be a part of this community and can’t wait to see what this year has in store for us!

Rohina
Production Manager
Hi everyone! I’m Rohina and I’m the Production Manager for OHDC this year.
I’m an international student (from the UAE) in my second year of undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto, with a double major in Psychology and Human Biology. I was in the performance tier at OHDC in my first year, and I’m so excited to be holding an exec position this year!
Although I haven’t been professionally trained in dance, I’ve taken multiple technique-intensive workshops and performed on stage (after intensive training with different choreographers) since the age of 5 for dance forms like Hip Hop, Contemporary, Jazz, Bollywood and an Indian semi-classical dance form called Kathak. Although I’ve never had the chance to take up dance full-time, I can’t go a day without it. It holds so many personal dimensions for me - as a de-stressor, as an outlet for creative expression and telling a story. I’ve always been open to learning new dance forms (especially Heels and Ballet, even though I have limited flexibility) and have choreographed and taught a few pieces during my high school years too!
OHDC’s inclusive, welcoming, and positive environment is what stood out to me the most. As an enthusiastic learner, I truly felt like I belong here and that my growth as a dancer is celebrated, valued and cherished.
I’m so excited for what this season holds for us, and I can’t wait to bring to life all the ideas I have in store this year (although not literally “to life”, since everything is virtual now). I’m always open to having conversations and fostering friendships so I can’t wait to e-meet you all!

Maria
Technique Director
Hi there! My name is Maria and I am the Technique Director for OHDC’s 2020-2021 season. I am a third-year PhD student in the Department of Biochemistry, and this is my third season with OHDC.
I trained in classical ballet for a number of years as a child, and have recently begun to explore a variety of other dance styles, including contemporary, jazz, heels, and more. My training has led me to appreciate the power of movement as a form of self-expression and storytelling, and as a way to connect with others.
I joined OHDC in my first year of graduate school, and found it to be a close-knit community where dancers of all levels can train and express themselves through movement in a supportive environment. I am excited to bring you this season’s workshop tier, focused on developing technique, exploring new styles of dance, and finding your own unique style of movement. I hope to see you all at workshops, and let’s make this virtual season a great one!

Jessie
Events Convenor
Hey guys, Jessie here! I’m so excited to be on board for my fifth season with OHDC, and my second year as Events Management Convener. Once upon a time, I went to U of T for sociology, but am now returning to school for Marketing at George Brown College. I model for work, but I’ve been dancing since I was five! I used to compete in ballet, jazz, lyrical and hiphop, but contemporary is my forté and preferred style. I’ve always loved the art of expressing myself through dance and experimenting with movement.
Something I appreciate about our community is the inclusive environment it fosters. OHDC is truly a wonderful place to not only learn and practice dance, but also meet wonderful people and build lasting relationships.
This season may be unique, but I hope you’re as psyched as I am for this exciting year!
Welcome to our family!!

Tara
Marketing Assistant
Hi everyone! I’m Tara, the marketing assistant of OHDC for the 2020/21 season.
I’m in my third year at U of T, majoring in Economics with minors in Statistics and Mathematics.
This is my second year at OHDC, and after how great last season was, I’m really looking forward to this one.
Over the years, I’ve tried dance styles like hip hop and ballet, and although I really enjoy dancing, I haven’t seriously pursued any dance form. I recently started Zumba as a workout and joined OHDC as another form of a dance workout, and I’m so glad I did. I’ve been introduced to so many new dance styles and people through it. Most importantly, OHDC has helped me get over my inhibitions of dancing and performing in public because of how inclusive and welcoming it is. I hope a lot more people get to experience OHDC this year and get as much out of it as I did!

Sabrina
Technique Assistant
Hello! I'm Sabrina, and I'm your Technique Assistant for the 2020-2021 season!
I'm a second-year undergraduate student with a double major in Environmental Science and Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, and a minor in Environmental Chemistry.
This is my second season dancing with OHDC, but I had loved dancing since I was four. I began in ballet, and gradually made my way experimenting in many styles such as tap dance and hip hop. I'm excited to see you all at workshops this year!
